Wisconsin native, Brett Newski, just released a new single called “I Don’t Wanna Go To SXSW” which is off his upcoming album, “The Worst of Brett Newski”.
“This is a love song for Austin, TX. It is dedicated to all the bands out there sleeping in rat nests, living in stanky cars and cutting their teeth.” Despite what the title might imply, Newski thrives in the DIY touring environment that has surrounded his SXSW adventures.
Brett Newski will, infact, be heading to SXSW this year to play Stephen F’s Bar (701 Congress Ave) at 8:00pm – Saturday, March 18th. If you’re heading down, go watch him singlehandedly keep the DIY spirit of the festival alive!
“I Don’t Wanna Go To SXSW’ is part of Brett Newski’s upcoming LP The Worst of Brett Newski out April 28th. The album crawls into the minds of our society picking apart the displeasures of outdated ideologies – whether it’s talking about politics (“Make America Great Again“), materialism (“Black Friday Totally Sucks“), or even “manly macho-ism” stereotypes (“Bro Country“). The Worst of Brett Newski provides much-needed commentary in volatile times.
