After a 15 minute delay due to sound issues, Ocean Park Standoff took the stage to perform a shortened, two-song set. Performing songs from their 2017 debut, self-titled EP, the band did not let a delay spoil their infectious summer energy. The band members brought big smiles and a fun songs to the stage to kick off the great night ahead.
Next up was Silversun Pickups who brought a rockier sound to the stage. With more attendees filing in, the crowd began to get up and dance. One fan got a shout out from the main singer after he put all his energy into dancing and head-banging through multiple songs. If you’ve ever played Lazy Eye by Silversun Pickups on guitar hero you can look forward to the band concluding their set with it.
Finally Third Eye Blind took the stage to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their 1997 debut, self-titled album. Their set began with songs from their latest EP We Are Drugs and a few others. Immediately after, the band and the crowd increased their energy when they began playing track one from their debut album. Lead singer Stephan Jenkins pointed out that he and the drummer are the only original members remaining, but their current band mates did not disappoint long-time and new fans. The crowd had their shining moment when the band allowed them to sing the guitar solo near the end of the popular song, Jumper. The band cut off the album’s last track, but fans were not left unsatisfied when the show was concluded with it during the encore. This show was my fourth time seeing Third Eye Blind and it was my favorite performance so far. It was obvious the band and the crowd hold that album and this tour dearly. If you love Third Eye Blind, 90’s rock, or a great show, check them out the next time they stop in your city!
