We had the chance to chat with Lazarus Wilde about his first record! You can read it down below.

Interview by: Samantha Toy

You released your first album, Breathe Now, on April 7, 2017 via Cardigan Records. How has the reaction been to Breathe Now?

I’ve been getting nothing but great feedback so far since the release of the record. I’ve even had a couple new fans write to me how a couple of the songs on the record really resonate with them. So that was really something special to hear.

What is your favorite track off the album, and why?

I would have to say that “Breathe Now” is one of my favorite tracks off the record. The song itself really touches home for me on many different levels. I struggled with depression for a while and had major body dysmorphia on top of that so my insecurity level  was in all sorts of extreme and so this song really just helps me put myself in check. The line “Take a good look in the mirror and ask yourself. Are you beautiful? Are you meant for love?” I think gives anyone really who may be going through the same insecurities a chance to re-evaluate themselves and accept their natural beauty.

How do you think this album differentiates from your previous work?

This album was a little more produced in comparison to my last record. Lyrically I was able to really speak out and express on issues I’ve been going through for years that many people may or may not have known about. So this was a chance to allow people to really get to know me more.

What do you all hope to achieve by the end of the year?

I would just like people to give my sound a chance if they’ve never heard of me before and allow them to let their guards down. I would also like to be considered for bigger tours.

Lastly, what is one thing new fans should know about you?

I have hobbit shaped feet and it makes me a strong swimmer.
