We recently spoke with the incredible English DJ, Jax Jones, who just ended his North American tour. Read below what his plans are for next year, and working with Demi Lovato on his song, “Instruction!”

Hi Jax! How are you doing today?

 I’m great, thanks!

You just ended your North America tour just last week. How have the shows been?

It’s been an incredible run! I kind of didn’t really know how well they would go down since I’m still pretty new to people out here but the response has been incredible. I think everyone was just up for having a good time and that’s what I like to do. My shows are pretty different from most DJ shows, I like to leave a lasting memory in people’s minds.

What is one item you must bring on the road?

It seems a bit silly and a bit obvious but I’ve got to have my headphones! Not just for my shows but also when I’m flying or on a bus or whatever, I need to have my music with me. I don’t get to make as much new music while on the road as I’d like to but I like being able to get into it when the creativity hits and having my headphones always helps.

You have a new single, “Instruction” featuring Demi Lovato and Stefflon Don. How was it working with them along with doing a music video together?

Working with Demi and Steff was so easy and so much fun. Demi is such a professional; she’s been doing it since she was a kid so she just knows how it all goes and is prepared to do whatever’s necessary. And Steff is just a superstar in her own right; she wanted to do everything, even down to doing her own stunts on her horse, which is pretty wild when I think about it now. She’s just super easy to work with and I’m really happy with how it all turned out.

What was your favorite part of filming the video?

I love the whole video, I think it all came together really well and really easily. I guess I like the part at the end with all three of us because it really helps show off the carnival/party vibes that we were going for when we came up with the original ideas for the video. Good times!

You’ll be touring in the UK and Ireland in December. How excited are you to end your Housework Tour back home?

I’m so excited for this tour! I’m always on the road but to be doing my own tour again so quickly after my last UK tour just feels incredible. I’m going to be bringing some major special guests with me, some of which I’m not allowed to talk about just yet but know that they’re going to be incredible. I just want to get going now really!

You past single covers have been cereal boxes, a sriracha sauce bottle, and other items. How do you come up with your single covers?

It’s kind of unintentionally turned into a bit of a theme now and it’s all part of my brand I guess. When I released ‘House Work’ we decided to go with the kitchen theme, like, washing the dishes is usually part of your general house chores; I know when I was a kid, my mum always made me wash the dishes as part of mine. So it kind of all stemmed from there. Demi & Steff both have their own swag that they brought t o ‘Instruction’ and it just felt right using the siracha bottle for this. I better start thinking about what I’m going to go with next…!

If you could collaborate with another DJ or musician, who would it be?

I’m not sure you know… I guess I’m just going to throw it out there, dream big and wish for Beyoncé because it doesn’t really get much bigger than Beyoncé, right? [Laughs]

What are your plans for next year?

I’m working on an album, so hopefully that’ll be part of the plan for next year. In the meantime, I just want to release more music and do more live shows I guess. I’m thinking about my next single too so look out for that too.

 Thanks for chatting with us!

Thanks so much for having me!
