Newton Faulkner @ Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury, UK

Review & Photography by: Callum Ludlow

On the 19th October I had the opportunity to go along and shoot Newton Faulkner in Canterbury, England.

I was particularly excited for this event as Newton Faulkner is an artist I have been listening to ever since I was young, many days were spent listening to his earlier albums on those walks into school and now I was finally given the opportunity to not only see him live but shoot his set.

The venue was Canterbury’s Marlowe Theatre, this was the perfect setting for an acoustic artist. Once Newton took to the stage the audience, 1200 strong went crazy.

I was expecting this to be a slow paced, mellow set with people sticking to their seats as it was just an acoustic artist rather than the usual rock concerts I attend. However it was much the opposite, Although it may have only been a man with a guitar he brought a huge amount of energy and a full band live sound to the venue.

With a mix of new tracks and older fan favourites Newton had the whole audience singing along, interacting and energetic throughout, his great sense of humour also gave the set a unexpected stand up comedy-esque feel. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable night was had by all!
