The Struts @ Golden 1 Arena in Sacramento, CA

Review & Photography by: Samantha Toy

The Struts definitely live up to their band name. On December 2 in Sacramento, California, a sold out crowd of 17,608 people from Northern California gathered around Golden 1 Center to watch The Struts and Foo Fighters perform. Personally, it was my second time seeing The Struts live, and everything including their stage presence of front man Luke Spiller to their music brings me back to see them again.

At exactly 7:30pm sharp, Luke Spiller (vocals), Adam Slack (guitar), Jed Elliott (bass), and Gethin Davies (drums) joined together onstage to perform one of their hit songs, “Put Your Money On Me” which made the crowd go wild. As Spiller mentioned during their set of how many fans have not seen them live, almost the entire arena threw their hands up in the air, and it was definitely a night they will never forget.

As the band performed other songs, a greater amount of fans gathered around cheering more and more as they loved The Struts’ music. Since this is not the band’s first time performing in front of over 15,000 fans (opened up for The Rolling Stones, The Who, Guns N’ Roses), the four of them are used to playing to huge crowds. You can see in their stage presence that they are not shy of anything they encounter, and they will make you have the time of your life even if you’re having a bad day.

I’ve been a fan of this band for about two years now, and I was very delighted to hear from another photographer that they were blown away, and they would love to see them again. If you’re dying to hear about this band’s music, you can check them out on Spotify, iTunes, and YouTube now. The Struts are wrapping up their tour with the Foo Fighters on the west coast, and will be releasing their second full length album next year.

Suggested songs to listen: Put Your Money On Me, Kiss This, Dirty Sexy Money, One Night Only
