Alex Aiono @ Ace of Spades in Sacramento, CA

Review & Photography by: Samantha Toy

Adaptable, ambitious, energetic, and sweet are the words that I can automatically think of when describing Arizona’s Alex Aiono. Known for his success on YouTube amassing over 5.5 million subscribers, he kicked off 2018 with his first headlining run, The Feels Like Home Tour. On a busy Saturday evening in Sacramento, the sidewalks were overcrowded from excited and nervous fans. “I’m so nervous to meet Alex,” stated a fan as she stood in the VIP (Very Important People) line with her friend.

Shortly after doors opened, I went backstage to grab a few photo shots with Alex himself on the final date of his tour. From being on a fifteen date tour, Alex was eager to meet to me as he would any other person. He was such a kind, and gentle person who was very adaptable to our photo session with him. Following the session, we went back up to his dressing room as he discussed with him dedicated team on his outfit appearance, and being excited for the final show. “I believe tonight is the biggest crowd we have of the tour,” as Alex stated to his manager.

As this was my second time seeing Alex, I was not a stranger to his live set. I saw him back in May of last year with the incredible Sabrina Carpenter, and UK’s New Hope Club, so I was very stoked to see a familiar face again. After getting the crowd wild up from his first three songs, he took the time to slow down for a few minutes to interact with his crowd on how thankful he was being able to tour around the nation making music, having a dedicated fanbase, meeting new people across the globe, and making the last night the best show yet.

Personally, it was the best show to start off 2018 for me, and it’s just the beginning of the year. If you’re looking for a new artist to obsess over, Alex Aiono is your match. Make sure to check out his website here for updates on his music, tours, videos, and more! He is an artist you don’t want to miss out on.
