Kat Cunning, Noah Kahan, and LP @ Cannery Ballroom in Nashville, TN

Review & Photography by: Kailey Sullivan

LP is a Nashville favorite and this concert was much anticipated by fans since he performance at Live On The Green (Nashville’s free summer concert series with past artists like Cage the Elephant, Portugal, The Man, Head and the Heart, and of course LP herself to name a few.)

Opening first was Kat Cunning. Sporting a strappy outfit, she quickly won the affection of the crowd with her animated movements and etherial Regina Spector-like voice. She mentioned she would give up all future Christmas’s for the opportunity to tour with LP, and here she is.

Fresh off the Stephen Colbert show, Noah Kahan and his band played after Kat. The singer was featured on the show the previous week singing one of this more popular songs, “Hurt Somebody”(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SOeD9tL1NOM). Along with this song, you may also know him for his song, “Young Blood”, which has streamed 14 million plays on Spotify.

The crowd was grooving with the 4-piece band and along with Kat Cunning, set us up well for what to expect from LP.

The crowd erupted when LP finally made it to the stage. Proving her very loyal fan base, people started singing from the beginning and continued with each song the whole way through the show. Her voice is so unique and her range is insane. She has this folky rock-n-roll vibe that sets her apart. One of my favorite things about LP is her incredible whistling ability. Go listen to her songs, “Into The Wild” and “Lost on You”. Her whistling is just as amazing live. Among her many talents, she pulled out her violin (played like a guitar) and harmonica. 10/10 would recommend if you have the chance to see LP, you should take it.

Unfortunately Nashville was the second to last stop on her North American tour. We hope to see her again at LOTG (Live On The Green) in a few months but if not then, we may have to wait a while for whats next from her. She mentioned from stage that she has a new album coming out around September and graced us with a preview of two songs coming out on that album.
