We Are Scientists @ Shepherds Bush Empire in London, UK

Review & Photography by: Dan Landsburgh

Ironic funsters and all round nice guys of indie rock We Are Scientists have been back in the studio and they have emerged a new album, Megaplex that is like a fiery phoenix with a sweeping hair cut on a hot bushy mustache.

Now on the band’s 6thalbum, I tagged along to check out the guys’ show a few days prior at Shepherds Bush Empire in their intimate setting of Rough Trade East’s venue. With all of the excitement over the new record, I bet their fans couldn’t wait to hear it and meet them. With this type of intimate environment, it’s easy to forget how nice and funny these guys are at every show I have attended especially with a mix of hit songs, and witty banter between Keith and Chris.

After the show, and with my copy of Megaplex under my arm, I headed home to give the full album a proper listen which I was once again not disappointed. The record had songs with more synth-driven electro pop styles than ever! This band amazes me with their incredible talent, and they have been in the scene since 2002, but they haven’t gained huge attention until 2005 with their record, “With Love and Squalor.” As the band’s still going strong their music, I can’t wait what is to come in the future!
