Future Generations & The Lagoons  @ The Marble Bar in Detroit, MI

On June 21st, 2018, The Lagoons hit The Marble Bar in Detroit, MI co-headlining with Future Generations. The band, made up of brothers Joey and Ryan Selan, was touring in support of their latest EP release ‘Escape.’ This was their first tour across the United States and their first time in Detroit.

The Lagoons were first to play for the night and did not disappoint. Self-describing their sound as “Cali-pop,” they played songs that without a doubt make you think of sunshine, palm trees, and driving down the west coast. Although the crowd was small, the fans made up for it with their energy, enthusiastically dancing along during the whole set. They played songs from both their ‘Escape’ and ‘Gems’ EPs including ‘Gems,’ ‘California,’ and ‘Close My Eyes (And I Wonder).’ The Lagoons have incredibly groovy music with a unique spin via the saxophone in the majority of their songs. They’re sure to be a great addition to any summer playlist this year.

Indie-pop band Future Generations played next. I had never heard of them until that night, and I was impressed with their stage presence and energy. The space on stage was limited but the 5 members still managed to dance around it and hype up the crowd.

The tour is almost complete, but make sure to check out both bands on Spotify, Apple Music, and iTunes, and keep an eye out for future tours!
