Steve Burns & Divided Heaven @ AP Brewery in Asbury Park, NJ

I ventured up to the Asbury Park Brewery Sunday night to cover Divided Heaven’s set to find a charming venue with a family like atmosphere. Everyone supported all the bands performing that night and gave them their full attention. This versatile band played pop rock, indie, and punk performing cover songs and originals from their newest album. No matter your favorite style of music there was something for everyone.
You could tell from the moment Divided Heaven’s set started, they were genuinely really thankful for everyone that had showed up that night. The band is on the verge of dropping their third album Cold War in just a couple days, on July 20th, and was sure to treat the crowd with a few of their songs off this upcoming album. Their latest single “1983” was a definite crowd pleaser and got everyone moving.
Jeff Berman, the creator of Divided Heaven, has been performing in bands since the 90’s but didn’t fully evolve into a songwriter until 2009. He has previously toured on his own with just an acoustic guitar but for this tour he brought along a full band; consisting of Nic Morreale on drums and Derik Envy on bass. All three members had an evident passion for what they were doing and their love for performing spread to every single person present. They are more than halfway through their tour, but if they are performing near you soon I would highly recommend going to check them out. If they are not coming near you soon I would definitely give their new album Cold War a listen once it is released.
If you’re in the area make sure to catch the local bands that performed next time they’re playing: Steve Burns, The Floors, and Erotic Novels.
