Clutch’s newest album Book of Bad Decisions is a 15-track album that captures the band’s sound perfectly. With a release date of September 7th, 2018, longtime fans can expect to experience some nostalgia with this album. After hearing the first song, it took me back to my fifteen-year-old self, when I first began listening to Clutch. Book of Bad Decisions has a very classic Clutch sound, mixing blues-rock with some funk sound and alternative metal, creating dynamic music that pops out of your speakers immersing you in their songs. Vance Powell recorded the band and perfectly captured their energy.
I myself have been a fan of Clutch since around 2005 and would say that this is one of my favorite albums that I’ve heard them release. Book of Bad Decisions is a must have in your music library. Ending the track line up, “Lorelei” quickly became a favorite. It starts off with a slower, darker sound, and picks up with a heavier rock sound by the chorus. This song’s lyrics illustrated a story with ease, allowing listeners to connect to it on a different level. Along with “Lorelei”, the title track “Book of Bad Decisions” is a top track of the album. Overall this album captures what fans love most about Clutch, their unique sound, lyrics, as well as telling a story through their songs. Clutch will be on tour this fall and you won’t want to miss them perform.
