CHVRCHES @ The Greek Theater in Los Angeles, CA

Earlier this year, Scottish synth-pop band Chvrches released their third album, “Love Is Dead”. In support of their latest release, they recently set off on a headlining tour with Lo Moon. September 23rd, the second proper stop of the headlining tour came to The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, CA. (They had two festival performances in between the San Diego date and the LA date.)
The lights went out and their intro audio starts to play but it was quickly muffled by the crowds’ cheers and applause. The band emerges and lead singer, Lauren Mayberry, makes her way to center stage. As the lights come back on, the clapping intro to “Get Out” gets the fans to join in, it is then visible that her shirt says “Girls Can Do Anything.” She definitely makes a strong case in favor of that statement with the performance she gives.
The career-spanning setlist had a perfect balance of old and new. From the fan favorites like “Gun”, “Recover”, and “Bury It”, to the new bangers like “Graves”, “Miracle” and “Forever”, Chvrches had the crowd dancing all night. Even band mate Martin (Doherty) got in on the fun and sang his songs “Under the Tide” and “God’s Plan”. Lauren’s vocals were on point the whole set. Her dance moves, full of spins and jumps, are definitely fun to watch.
To end the night, their encore consisted of “The Mother We Share” and “Never Say Die”. Perfect ending to a great night and a good way to send the fans off happy. Check out Chvrches on their headlining tour with Lo Moon this fall and stream their albums across all music streaming platforms.
