Troye Sivan’s ‘Bloom Tour,’ in support of his new album of the same name, came to Detroit on Sunday, October 14th. Joining him at the show were pop singers Carlie Hanson and Kim Petras.
While Troye and Kim had been on tour for nearly a month already, today was Carlie’s first day performing with them. Although she’s only 18 years old, she ran around the stage and captivated the audience with her high energy stage presence like a pro and successfully got the crowd to dance along with her. Kim Petras played next, and she was pure pop diva gold. She strutted across the stage her whole set and her performance was super fun, both to watch and to photograph.
Troye Sivan made his grand entrance through the curtain and opened with ‘Seventeen’ off of his new album, standing in front of the curtain with dramatic lighting and shadows setting the mood. Halfway through the song, he ran back behind the curtain and seconds later, it dropped and revealed his incredible stage production. I’ve seen Troye before, but this tour allowed him to boost his creativity in his set and completely wow the audience. His setup, lighting, songs, and performance truly brought the tour to a whole new level. Throughout his set, he played songs new and old; ‘Plum,’ & ‘The Good Side,’ off ‘Bloom’ and ‘Bite’ & ‘Youth’ off ‘Blue Neighbourhood’ among many more. Troye also made sure to include his (very talented) backup singer in duets to ‘Wild,’ & ‘Dance to This.’ Impressively enough, he kept his energy up during the entire set and the crowd did the same. The audience was a mix from young children to teens to adults, and seeing everyone come together for their love of his music was refreshing.
The Bloom Tour is only halfway over so make sure to see if it’s coming anywhere near you! Tickets here.
