Thunderpussy & The Struts @ Ace of Spades in Sacramento, CA

On a cold Sunday night in Sacramento, California, hundreds of fans across Northern California gathered around the streets eagerly waiting to enter Ace of Spades to see Thunderpussy and The Struts perform. For the members in The Struts or directly known as Luke Spiller, Adam Slack, Gethin Davies, and Jed Elliott, they are no strangers to this area. They had previously performed at Napa’s BottleRock Festival in addition to a stop with the Foo Fighters at Golden 1 Arena last year. Now on their second United States headlining tour, the guys decided to tour in honor of their second debut album, “Young and Dangerous.”
Starting the night was Seattle, Washington’s all-female rock band, Thunderpussy. As soon as the five-piece walked onstage, the fans were set in for a treat. Vocalist Molly Sides delivered a voice that fits so perfectly with the band’s sound. Even though they performed a 45-minute set, I could not get enough of them. They were so incredible, and I’m glad they were on this tour as an opening act!
Next up was the UK band – The Struts – who tore the venue apart with their mesmerizing performance. The night began with the room going dark, and their introduction sang, “Are you ready?” while fans’ screaming echoed around the packed venue. Soon enough the four guys walked across the stage smiling and then beginning the track, “Primadonna Like Me.” After exciting the crowd with a few songs, the guys cooled down a bit, and Luke screamed, “Hello Sacramento, it’s good to be back!”
With an hour and a half of full-on set, The Struts never fails to disappoint me. For seeing them three times now, they impress me during every gig I have seen them at in Northern California. If you haven’t seen these guys live yet, you are missing out on them! You can check their website for more announcements including world tour dates, music, videos, and more.
