Modern Chemistry & Taking Back Sunday @ Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ

Review & Photography by: Kristen Zarra

Taking Back Sunday kicked off their 20thanniversary tour with their annual holiday show at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ.  The holiday show was a two-night event, running on December 14-15th, with a special pop-up shop Saturday afternoon before the night show.  I had the privilege of seeing the band perform both nights, and they did not disappoint. On Saturday, Modern Chemistry opened the night with an amazing performance.  In honor of 2019 being the 20thanniversary of Taking Back Sunday, the band played Tell All Your Friends, their first album, in its entiretyThe crowd cheered and happily sang along to the songs, enjoying the moment.

Throughout the night, the band joked around and engaged the crowd, they also gave presents out as well! Once Tell All Your Friends was finished, they proceeded to play Louder Now in its entirety as well as various songs from other albums after. I’ve seen Taking Back Sunday many times before, but after being able to hear and see them perform two full albums plus more songs after, Saturday’s show undeniably was the best.  Don’t miss out on the opportunity to see them on the rest of the tour!
