Hudson Taylor @ Johnny Brenda’s in Philadelphia, PA

Review & photography by Valerie McIntyre

Wednesday night May 17th in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania stood a small yet intimate upstairs venue called Johnny Brenda’s. For a band like Hudson Taylor, it’s almost the perfect setting for a live performance.

Hudson Taylor is a folk duo band from Ireland that is made up of two brothers: Alfie and Harry Hudson-Taylor. They mix the genres of Americana and Folk to create a sound that’s relaxing, easy listening, and catchy; it’s also important to mention that their lyrics will grab a music listener’s ear. Their performance of songs such as “Travelin’” and “Care” has a “Simon and Garfunkel esque” both lyrically and musically.

Highlights from this show include the band showing off their vocal talent performing harmonies like the classic doo-wop groups from back in the day. Their performance showed the band is passionate about their music and performances.

You can follow Hudson Taylor on social media for further music, updates, and more!
