MERIT ANNOUNCES LIVING WITH THE LOW EP

Words by Kristen Zarra

The pop-punk band from Lansdale, PA, Merit, has just announced their third EP, Living With The Low. You can listen to their latest single, ‘Woe, She’s A Gravedigger’ here.   Living With The Low was recorded/produced by Matt Brasch of The Wonder Years, mixed by Nick Steinborn of The Wonder Years, and mastered by Bill Henderson of Thursday.  Merit’s EP has a release date of July 26th, 2019, and fans can preorder it at meritpa.bandcamp.com.

Members Mike (Vocals), Nate (Guitar), Jesse (Guitar), Matt (Bass), and Nick (Drums), are set to tour early July and Fall 2019, with goals of pushing their music further west.  Vocalist Mike shares, “The record is basically a psycho-self-analysis of dealing with betrayal within romantic and other personal relationships.”  He also states, “Each song on this record has a specific emotion attached to them, that’s why we named them the way we did. Despite its light sounding instrumentation, this is a very dark record to reflect a low period of my life. Hence ‘Living With The Low.”

Living With The Low embodies, the sound fans think of when someone says ‘pop-punk.’  The songs hit hard with high energy and catchy melodies, grabbing the attention of whoever listens.   Mediocrity Gets You (Des)Pears’ perfectly kicks off the EP, and Merit does not hold back with this opener.   ‘Anxiety Is The New Black’ has a great sound, it is reminiscing of the older bands that shaped the pop-punk scene. Personally, this track was the song that peaked my interest to hear more from Merit. Overall the tracks that made it onto this EP showcase the talent Merit has to offer.

The upcoming July tour will allow them to spread their EP to a larger fan base. Merit will begin in Mays Landing, NJ on 7/11 and end in their hometown of Lansdale, PA on 7/27. Below is the full list of dates of the tour.
