Justin Stone, Issues, & I Prevail @ The Fillmore in Philadelphia, PA

Review & photography by Kristen Zarra

I Prevail’s Trauma tour stopped at The Fillmore in Philadelphia on July 28th.  With support from Justin Stone and Issues, this night was about to give fans a great time. I Prevail began in 2014, creating music that merged different aspects of genres together, and quickly gained momentum. Singer Brian talked about the struggle and surgery he went through with his vocals, saying how it almost lead him to quit the band completely.  Good for fans, he pushed through and decided to stay, and the band wrote and recorded Trauma.

Justin Stone and Issues revved up the crowd, starting the night off right. Justin performed a few songs, followed by Issues. Once Issues took the stage, the crowd cheered and was ready for the music. They brought the energy level up, making in known that they wanted to see moshing throughout the entirety of their set. It was no surprise when the crowd responded with huge circle pits and crowd surfers. After their last song, the anticipation for I Prevail spiked as the time for them to come on stage became closer.

Eventually, the crowd began chanting “I Prevail, I Prevail” until the lights finally went out and the chanting turned into cheers as the band arrived on stage. As soon as the first song began, crowd surfers immediately started coming over the barricade. Anyone there could see how much I Prevail enjoys performing for their fans. Aside from opening the show, Justin Stone came out for guest vocals during I Prevails set. When they got a chance, both Brian and Eric would interact with the fans, and grab hands of a few crowd surfers.  From start to end, I Prevail did not slow down, they constantly were moving around, hyping the crowd up.  They almost always encouraged the crowd to continue to “open the pit up.” I Prevail ended with fan-favorite ‘DOA’ and came back for a two-song encore, including ‘Breaking Down’ and ‘Come and Get It.’  The Trauma tour has a few stops left, check out their site for a date near you.
